The inability of the spinal column to maintain its natural form while being used normally is known as an unstable spine. An unsteady spine is unable to hold the spinal ligaments, muscles, disc, and bones together in such a way as to maintain these crucial functions for the body, which are provided by a healthy spine. Numerous medical conditions, such as spinal fractures, spondylolisthesis, and occasionally even severe disc injuries, are associated with unstable spines. If symptoms worsen to incapacitating leg pain, back pain, or severe neurologic issues as a result of a pinched nerve, surgery is frequently necessary. The most effective way to do this is to fuse the vertebrae that are unstable using an ALIF, PLIF, or lateral interbody fusion. Scoliosis, kyphosis, and flat-back syndrome are a few conditions that alter the spine's normal curvature and cause a variety of impairments. The most common non-operative treatment for scoliosis and kyphosis is bracing and physical therapy, but when the spinal curvature is too severe, surgery is needed to realign the spine. If symptoms of the flat-back syndrome are not alleviated by non-operative means, the same is true.
