Reverse shoulder arthroplasty is a surgical procedure for patients with severe damage to the shoulder joint, particularly the rotator cuff. Unlike traditional shoulder replacement, the reverse technique changes the position of the ball and socket joint so that the deltoid muscle takes over the function of the shoulder instead of the rotator cuff. This is especially effective in patients with significant rotator cuff tears, arthritis, or previous unsuccessful shoulder surgery. The procedure helps improve stability, reduce pain, and improve mobility of the shoulder, allowing patients to regain function in their daily activities.
